The Past Revealed at the Click of a Button
The Biblical Archaeological Institute archive is a digital repository and groundbreaking initiative documenting thousands of the most important and representative archaeological artifacts ever discovered in Israel and Trans-Jordan over the past 150 years, spanning from the Neolithic culture (8th millennium BCE) to the Crusader period (12th century CE).
As of the end of 2025, more than 4,500 significant and fascinating artifacts, from prehistoric times to the Crusader era, have been catalogued. The database is scheduled for public launch in 2026.
The database consolidates items dispersed across museums, research institutions, private collections, and authorities such as the Israel Antiquities Authority, offering for the first time a comprehensive search and display system by period, culture, region, artifact type, artistic style, and function.
No comparable resource exists anywhere in the world. This archive provides scholars, students, and the general public with easy access to the material culture of the Land of the Bible, enabling a broader understanding of human development in the region through 8th millennium BCE through 12th century CE.
